Fir Real
So I've made the Fir Real bars before, bit hit! They smell like a Christmas tree and have just a touch of scrub to them. This version is maybe a bit nearer and dearer to our hearts (our should I say "deer-er"?) The tallow I used in this recipe is from the deer that two of my children harvested last year. We feel strongly about respecting the animal and while our freezer is full, I wanted to render down this beautiful fat that otherwise would have gone unused and utilize it in this recipe. The deer were harvested on our farm, the milk is from our cows and the balsam fir is in my front yard. These really are special bars.
